Senior Database Administrator, Netvisor
We want you to shine!
Netvisor delivers mission-critical operations for approximately 40,000 customers around the clock. Through various integrations, mobile solutions, and a web interface, our system is in constant use while being developed by multiple world-class development teams. This is made possible by careful planning, automation of workflows, and comprehensive monitoring.
To support our future growth and innovation, we rely heavily on leveraging standardization and proven best practices. Planning ahead and being proactive allows us to respond to future trends and upcoming requirements. To lead this change, we are now looking for an experienced Senior Database Administrator / Architect (DBA) to join our Netvisor Architecture Team!
What can you expect when joining us?
We are looking for a senior-level DBA who thrives at the intersection of deep technical troubleshooting and strategic architectural design. In this role, you won't just be managing instances; you will be the primary authority on how our data layer evolves to support a modular monolith and modern cloud capabilities.
As a Senior DBA, you are the guardian of the Netvisor platform’s data layer. This is a strategic role that requires a "detective’s eye" for current performance and a "designer’s mind" for future scalability. You will be responsible for increasing predictability and improving time-to-market through standardized, cloud-native platform solutions. Your work is a dynamic mix of operational excellence and strategic design across a diverse tech stack.
Your focus areas include:
Platform Reliability: Proactively improving our operational health through advanced troubleshooting, SQL optimization, and sophisticated observability improvements.
Knowledge Leadership: Acting as a technical coach within R&D to ensure our development teams can deploy data-heavy features with confidence and speed.
Strategic Architecture: Participating in high-level architectural work. You’ll help us map out data persistence strategies in AWS, design modular data boundaries, and ensure our data streams are ready for AI-driven growth.
How to succeed in this role?
Your key capabilities include:
OLTP & RDBMS Mastery. Deep expertise in high-volume transactional systems. You are a master of Microsoft SQL Server internals and performance tuning, with a strong transition skill set toward AWS-native PostgreSQL (RDS/Aurora).
Observability & Troubleshooting. You have a "detective’s eye" for spotting bottlenecks. You know how to build sophisticated monitoring for database health, IOPS utilization (gp3/io2), and query latencies.
Architectural Vision. The ability to design migration strategies to enable modernizations of monolith data layers. You have a deep understanding of AWS data services and the ability to design data streams and persistence models that support AI-driven growth.
Multi-tenant Scalability. You have experience managing high-stakes data for thousands of customers. You can balance the isolation required for multi-tenant security with the resource efficiency needed for a global SaaS product.
DevOps & Automation Mindset. A "Database as Code" mindset. You are proficient in managing data persistence via Terraform and integrating schema changes into modern CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions).
Mentorship & Standards. You have passion for training developers on "SQL best practices" and establishing the organizational standards for how we interact with data.
We hope you have a strong foundation in the following areas:
Polyglot Persistence: Understanding of NoSQL principles (e.g., DynamoDB) and the ability to identify when a non-relational approach is the better architectural fit.
Data Resilience & Integrity: Deep knowledge of high-availability (HA), disaster recovery (DR) strategies, and point-in-time recovery to ensure 24/7 reliability for our customers.
AI-Ready Data Architecture: Understanding of how data quality, structure, and indexing directly impact the success of AI/ML models and RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) patterns.
AI-Assisted Operations: Experience or a strong interest in using AI tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, automated tuning advisors) to accelerate your own workflow and automate routine database tasks.
Distributed Logic: Familiarity with the challenges of maintaining data consistency in event-driven systems or distributed microservices environments.
Besides the technical skills, we are looking for a team player with the audacity to question past choices and the pragmatism to understand that gradually evolved systems are a critical part of our current business. You should be a natural mentor who enjoys sharing knowledge through documentation and workshops, ensuring all development teams grow alongside you. As we look towards the future, we value an innovative mindset: You understand that high-quality data is the bedrock of AI, and you are eager to use AI-driven tools to augment your own productivity - whether it’s for query optimization, refactoring legacy T-SQL, or automating routine tasks. Our working language is English.
