Development Leader, Severa

Severa is the market-leading SaaS solution for professional services organisations, serving around 50,000 users in Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and the Netherlands. With Severa our customers can manage projects and resources as well as time tracking and invoicing processes. Our goal is to grow our presence in the Nordic market and become the most beloved tool for project teams.
We are now looking for an experienced Development Leader for our Severa development team, which consists of 25 engineers (developers, QAs, architects) and product professionals.
What can you expect when joining us?
In this role your main responsibility is to motivate and inspire our development team to achieve their ambitious goals, while offering the necessary guidance, tools and support. Together with your team and team captains, you are responsible for Severa product development and for bringing value to our customers and users. You are in charge of maintaining and improving development processes and ensuring continuous learning and growth in the development team.
You are also an active member of the product management team, working in close cooperation with different stakeholders and representing the development team in different forums. Your success is measured in business metrics (i.e. revenue growth and profitability) and customer value metrics (i.e. CES, pNPS), as well as in team satisfaction and engagement (eNPS).
Your tasks and responsibilities include:
- Overseeing the entire development lifecycle from concept to delivery, ensuring the highest standards of product quality, performance, scalability and security.
- Setting the vision, strategy and objectives for product development in alignment with business goals.
- Managing the continuous improvement of development processes, ways of working and tools.
- Collaborating with the team to establish clear performance metrics and objectives, regularly measuring and reviewing performance to foster accountability and drive continuous improvement.
- Promoting transparency in the development process by ensuring open communication and visibility into project status and goals, so that stakeholders are well-informed about what the product team is working towards and achieving.
- Driving innovation by staying ahead of industry trends, evaluating new technologies and implementing best practices to ensure that Severa remains at the forefront of the market.
- Developing and mentoring your team members, cultivating a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
- Overseeing suppliers and supplier relationships.
- Bringing the voice of development to the product management team, contributing to the product strategy and key business deliverables.
How to succeed?
If you feel you are particularly good in at least one of the following, we might have a match: managing software development teams, product management, and/or (international) business management.
Here are some examples of a background that will help you to succeed in this role:
- Proven track record on successfully leading and empowering high-performing software development team(s).
- Technical understanding and experience on modern software development.
- Growth mindset and commercially oriented leadership skills, experience in SaaS product business is an advantage.
- Strategic thinking with the ability to turn business goals into development goals and actionable plans.
- Experience and evidence on encouraging culture of experimentation and innovation.
- Excellent communication skills and insight on how to create and maintain an innovative and psychologically safe environment.
- Fluent verbal and written skills in Finnish and English (Finnish is not a must, but an advantage).
On the tech side, our product is hosted in Azure and stack includes .NET and C# in the back end, Inferno.js and React + React Native in the front. We are currently undergoing a UI renewal project where we are replacing Inferno with React.

We believe diversity is a richness so we would love to have applications from people with various backgrounds. However, we are not able to offer relocation services so you would need to be based in Finland and have a valid work permit.
The salary range in this position is around 6000-7000 €/month plus quarterly bonus (depending on your relevant experience and seniority), but we are happy to hear your expectations. In addition to salary, we offer a wide range of benefits including personnel fund, extended health care, massage, dental care, sports & culture, bike benefit, recreation budget, rewards, company parties, snacks in the office, etc.
As your home base, you can choose between our nice offices at Helsinki (Tripla) and Lappeenranta, but we also support remote work. Most of the development team members are located in Lappeenranta, so we hope you are eager and willing to travel there occasionally to meet your team members in person.
The recruitment process includes 2 interview rounds with a small task and an online personality assessment.
