We are now looking for a Head of Development to join Maventa! In the role you will lead our cross-functional R&D teams consisting of developers, infra engineers, product owners and a team lead. Our Product Manager will be your key colleague representing the product who you will be working closely with. The role includes a seat in the Maventa management team, where you actively contribute to discussion on strategic topics and decision-making. Your success will be measured by several metrics: business growth, customer value, employee satisfaction and technical & operational. You will report to the Managing Director.

Key responsibilities

You take full responsibility for our R&D teams & technology and ensure everything is running smoothly and constantly improving.

• Set the vision, strategy and objectives for development and technology in alignment with business goals.
• Bring strategic perspective to development and technology in the management team.
• Facilitate decision making in the development team on key software architecture and infrastructure, code standardisation and reusability, best practices, software tools and deployment processes.
• Ensure all team members have the latest in-depth knowledge on the latest relevant technology and methodology developments.
• Ensure our technology platform endures time and the PM’s product vision comes true.
• Work across the organization with other relevant stakeholders such as Support and Commercial.
• Lead and manage cross-functional R&D personnel, including responsibilities such as recruiting, appraisals, upskilling, 1to1 meetings, motivating and performance management of the team.
• Oversee & improve the way of working, knowledge sharing and the entire development lifecycle from concept to delivery, ensuring set standards and metrics for product quality, performance, scalability and security.
• Strategic decision-making on possible inheriting of new or legacy code bases and how the organization is developed.
  
  

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• 5+ years experience from software development and/or product management.
• Strong leadership skills, interpersonal communication skills and empathy: you lead by example, listen to people and decide with conviction. We are working mostly remote, therefore you need to be comfortable with remote leadership.
• Proactive, self-imposed attitude with a sense of urgency for creating forward-propelling momentum.
• Proven track record on successfully leading and empowering high-performing software development teams.
• Solid understanding of technology, especially cloud technologies, security practices and APIs.
• Experience on modern software development and use of AI for productivity.
• Strategic thinking with the ability to simplify complex concepts and create executable actions from decisions made in the management team.
• Growth mindset and commercial/numbers understanding.
• Experience in SaaS business and/or experience from participating in taking AI product or feature live is considered an advantage.
• Fluent verbal and written skills in English, Finnish is not a must, but a small plus.

Maventa runs on AWS cloud technology with Ruby stack accompanied by various frameworks. The product is backend heavy, with REST API focus.

The salary range in this position is estimated to be 6800-7800 € per month, depending on your experience and background. Please let us know about your salary and general expectations in your application or cover letter. This is a permanent, full-time position. 

We work in a hybrid setting and have an office in Helsinki (Tripla). Working from other remote locations in Finland, such as Tampere or Lappeenranta, is negotiable. The work includes some travel abroad, an estimated 2-3 times a year, e.g. to conferences or management meetings. Currently we are unable to offer relocation support.
